Lower door panel replacement
Hi
new to bus driving ,while learning to drive bus I scraped two
lower stainless steel panels on bus.Wondering if anyone knows where to buy two panels maybe after market.I think prevost sells a set of six

If you are replacing the skin on the same door, remember the cost of the special SS pop rivets. They are quite expensive on their own and hard to find other than from IBP. Shipping is also not trivial.

Have you seen Mango Mike’s blog?
He has long since sold the bus; but the blog lives on.
He outlines the repair in detail.
We have a couple of scratches; but my plan is to get them flattened with a 100 ton press and sand/polish them back.
Bob may have an even better solution….after all, he built his own slides.
Also Prevost sells the 3/16″ rivets for 1.50 each.

Polishing stainless is a chore. I never did figure out how to remove the deep scratches IBP left on my bumper end cap when they supposedly “polished” it before sending it to me in Oregon. Not only are their prices out of sight, in my case their “service” was also far less than I would have expected.

Huh. I’ve had good experience with IBP and Steve Kolb.
We boogered up our bumper with the trailer early on. I never thought about taking it to a 100 ton press, straightening it, and polishing. Just bought a bumper section from IBP. Had them cut in a hole for the RV plug.

I don’t know the gauge; but those lower panels are very thin..easy to press and polish. Not sure what I would use for a bumper..maybe a big hammer and a steel plate?
The polishing is messy business…but scratches come out with sanding…work up to 600 grit and then polish..after all, it is just metal.
IBP makes the swap easy – it is always about preference.
