Jake Breaks
Hi, I went to another Detroit shop today and they looked into the computer to see if the Jake’s were being called on to work. They found the first stage was at 57% on and the second stage went to 100%. After a computer connected test drive I felt the secondary Jake for the first time. They did nothing just looked at the program. I think it may be working.
My question. (maybe I’m expecting it to do something it won’t)
Does your secondary (full) jake come on at all speeds or does it only work at limited speeds.
My primary jake seems to come on at any speed but the secondary seems to only come on at low speeds (maybe 35 down to 15)
Every truck I have ever driven with Engine Breaking would allow you to use any stage any time you needed it.

First and second stages of the Jake brake work at all speeds down to 15 MPH.

On my last coach with a Jake the keypad allowed me to select the high or low Jake braking assist.
