Koni Shock Gets Knocked by Steering Arm
Had some front end work done and well as Knoi shocks installed before I took delivery of my coach from Liberty. I have a scraping noise that I get when I turn the wheel to the left – about three quarters of the way. Attached is a photo (look at the yellow arrow) that deplicts the scrape mark. Do you think the shock is installed improperly?

Many of us have the Koni’s, my present H and my previous 01 Liberty XLII had no scraping problems. Maybe Jeff will jump in here with his thoughts.

Can’t that tie rod end be loosed and turned a few degrees to keep the screw/bolt from interferring with the shock? The change in the alignment might not be material. Have you had the axles aligned? During an alignment the tie rod might change enough so it doesn’t interfer.
Who put the shocks on?

Liberty in Stuart, Fl. put the new shocks on while doing some front end work.

Pat loosen the clamp with the bolt in it and turn it , do not turn the tie rod end , just the clamp and then tighten bolt and turn wheels to check to make sure clamp does not hit shock , it will be good then, that can happen when people replace shocks and do not check to make sure it does not hit shock or if they did some front end work and did not check to make sure it did not hit ….
Bottom line somebody put clamp in wrong position when tightened back up don’t worry easy to fix !!!!

What everybody else said. Re-orient the clamp. Do not rotate the tie rod.

Just as Jon and Peter said rotate the banjo clamp to clear the shock. Nothing to be concerned about in the least.
I can assure you the Koni is mounted correctly. They can only be installed one way. Koni’s being a little
wider/thicker caused the increased clearance needed.
Oh by the way you’ll love your Koni’s ….worth the money.

You may have to have grind the tack welds on the tie rod clamp to reorient it

There should be no welds on the clamp and tie rod. I just replaced my tie rod assembly and had to reorient the clamp.

Like Jon said there are no welds on the clamps
