  • Weighing each wheel…

Posted by Tom on November 28, 2015 at 8:48 am

I would like to get my coach weighed, but each wheel individually. Anyone got a suggestion as to where that can be done? I have a trucking company nearby who allows me to cross their scales where I get a weight for each axle, but I’d really like to get each wheel done separately.

I’ve done it at Q T in Adairsville, GA, exit 306 on I-75 because they have a wide apron and you can do one side then swing around and do the other side. It takes some coordination at the fuel desk to understand what your doing and the trucks think you’re nuts, but it can be done.

Or, you can go to Jeff’s and while your buying that cheap oil, just record the numbers off the lifts.:)

We had our coach weighed by Escapees – here is the web site explaining their program:

We found it to be extremely helpful.

Prevost also has scales like Jeff’s ( guess they know who to copy). Fort Worth put mine on their scales at no charge so I could record the weights. After doing so and using the Michlien pressure guide and PC brains I made significant changes to my tire pressures on all axles.

If a couple of Escapee members who are going to be at the Fun and Sun event informed Escapee Management that there was going to be a rally and they might get a few new members, Escapees might bring their portable scales over from Bushnell and you could get individual weights at a reasonable cost.

If Escapees will not do it, someone could contact Florida DOT and ask them to come over and bring their portable scales. Looks like a good PR stunt for Florida to do. Invite the local TV media and PC could also get some free advertising. Anything to keep our dues afordable.

Bill, this sounds like a good job for Tim, just to keep him busy.

I had mine weighed a few years ago by one of the couples that works the rallies. I was not at a rally but they met me at a truck stop as I was going through where they were. They weighed each wheel and it only took a few minutes. I had my tent trailer with me and they weighed it too.
