ECM
ECM started to act up two days ago . Flashed code 53 non volatile code , not going to shut down motor. Battery in ECM has been dead since May . Put new one in good now. Every week I am fixing something ,Does it ever end? Good thing my hired man Monty and I are mechanically inclined , or this wood be crazy…….

In a perfect world our coaches would go millions of miles with no needed maintenance and repairs. But that ain’t going to happen. Unfortunately the complexity of our coaches due to the number of devices, systems, moving parts, combined with the fact we are banging and shaking them while going down the road exposing them to hot and cold, wet and dry makes me wonder how they are so relatively trouble free.
If you want to put your coach in perspective in terms of how durable and reliable it really is buy a plane. The care and feeding of the average high performance plane makes the cost and effort to take care of our coaches seem like chump change.

At least you have the satisfaction of knowing your bus is generating revenue, where most of us are just experiencing the pleasure of throwing money at our toy!:)

no—-end in sight$$$ But!!! the guys with new coaches are replacing CAC at maybe $4,000 a shot and getting less mpg than us. soooooo is there a balance?? Life has its — no real point there. I’ll watch for your next problem I have redone abour everything on this 98. Bob

Thanks Jon and Tom , I have no plane, but I can tell you that I have had five peterbilts and five outlaw trailers with the same stuff in the trailers , the house parts the same as bus,trucks same thing … All had air ride , trucks and trailers .Can tell you the cost is peanuts compared to this thing… I have replaced just about everything on this bus expect motor and trany knock on wood………

Peter, How many miles on your coach?
Yeah , Bob everytime out fix something on mine. Always minor but still something. After last trip , front cruise air not cooling (freon) mid ship Vent fan no workie, front wheel seal leaking could go on ,but fingers would get tired! LOL. Still loving it though! As long as the fridge keeps the beer cold! O yeah, replaced that a couple years ago.

210,000 miles on it put 12,000 miles on in two months….. I put about 50 to 60 thousand miles a year on

Actually no……it never does end.
The best you can hope for is to become accustomed to it and not go broke in the meantime….
