Prevost Aware System

I cannot find the thread where we were talking about the Prevost Aware system catching something if the coach was just a couple of feet in the adjacent lane behind a vehicle.
There was a video of a guy driving an XL coach where he hit a pick-up truck that was involved in an accident. It was night and the driver couldn’t see it.
Someone asked me if I could test our system if I was partially in a lane, would the system activate. The BIG answer is YES!
It’s a hard to test the system since I don’t drive that fast. In this incident, not particularly trying to test the system, I was changing lanes behind an 18 wheeler and I guess I was a little close as the Prevost Aware system activated with me being about a foot into his lane (many car lengths in distance) but driving behind him while I was changing lanes. I had plenty of room but the system activated.
So, I have no doubt that the Prevost Aware system would have activated with a stopped vehicle that you could or could not see. You might not stop all the way (not sure) but the system will slow you WAY WAY down quickly.

I loved the 10 year older system (Vorad) we had in a previous SOB coach.
We could not easily upgrade our current 2006 XLII so we went with the next best option, MobilEye.
A Luddite, like Jon (we still love you Jon!), will disapprove, but for me, any system that improves safety is a plus. Not to take the place of an active, engaged driver, but improved safety.
