Liberty Air Horns

My 4 roof air horns do not work,I suspect that the air solenoid that I think is located in the steering bay has failed can anyone post a picture of the solenoid that Liberty uses.Thanks

No I can’t, but are you sure there isn’t a dashboard switch you may have hit by accident? I believe mine may have a horn select switch.

Unless I write it on a post-it my best intentions aren’t worth anything. I finally remembered to get the camera out and tomorrow if my brain doesn’t get sidetracked I will shoot a photo and email it.

You are referring to the one on the forward part of the steer compartment around the rear of the headlight right?

If you want to verify it is the solenoid valve you can pull the wire terminals and put your meter on them and press the horn button. You should see power. If you do, ohm out the coil. Usually solenoid valves have replacable coils and WW Grainger is as good a place as any to search for one. As an alternative see who makes the valve and find their local distributor.

If you don’t get power when you press the horn button, either that isn’t the solenoid valve for the horns or the open circuit is elsewhere, such as in the steering wheel. I had that problem on bus #1.

Thanks Jon,I did not know where it was I just knew that it was in the steering bay,after I get the picture I will verify with meter.

Here’s some photos.

The valve in the foreground is likely to be for the shutters.

I think this is the air horn valve.

These are guesses so can you post the right answer, Jack?

The top picture is the solenoid that bleeds off air from the level low system,the bottom picture is the solenoid for the shutters,I have checked every coil that I can find in the bay and all of them ohm out ok,I will check with Liberty and find the solenoid valve for the horns.

By the convertor valve on the rear wall of the same area is a solenoid valve for air horns.

I finally found the air horn problem,the solenoid coil wires were loose and the horn was intermittent.
