  • Foam on Underside of Chassis

Posted by Bob on June 27, 2012 at 5:51 pm

    Hi Folks,

My first post here. Looks like a great resource!

What is the foam that is used on the underside of our busses? I have to make a couple of minor repairs.

Does anyone know where I might find some?

    Thanks, Bob Michaelson

Welcome aboard Bob, glad you found us. Someone may have the answer, but I assume you could use the Foam in Can stuff you get at Home Depot to make minor repairs. I’ve had to touch up the paint a little on every bus I’ve had as the road debris takes off the black paint. I just use flat black in a spray can for that touch up.

    Two out of two Truk4u

After I hit a piece of metal going around a curve I was sure I missed it. Not completely as it took out a chunk of under belly insulation.

I found the yellow spray foam from HD or L was really close to what Prevost used.

Spray the foam and quickly with a old glove work it around so to match the ramdon texter from Prevost. As you know the stuff expands so let it do its thing. Don’t worry about the foam color,

Let it set up over night, next day with a large knife trim to blend with existing foam. I did a couple of touch ups and did a extra night.

Paint a couple differant directions for good coverage.

The flat black will match perfect after one trip in the rain.

Oh, welcome aboard and I see you own a 2005 Marathon XLII. Nice to have some company, those Liberty guys were ganging up on me awhile back. Recently new Marathon owners have surfaced.

Liberty’s have retreated to polishing there copper pipes.

Only one needed, Al, when you drive a Liberty. No gang required!

Welcome to PC (and hopefully PUP) Bob and Terri !!

    Thanks guys,

Looks like it is off to the big box tomorrow.

Al, we love the Marathon, but I do like those spiffy copper pipes on the Liberty.

    Ha! Ha!

    Thanks, Bob
