TYPE 36 Service Brake Chamber Pricing-a misquote??
Elgin says I need info from the Prevost Pricing Dept for parts price structure..
We got a quote from Prevost Elgin for part number 640729 costing $455.53 for a Type 36 Service Brake Chamber for lifting tag axle.
My question to the Pricing Dept, is this price for a Type 36 Service Brake Chamber a “TYPO” in the price guide Elgin uses?
Calling MGM using their Type 36 part number 1436018, it shouldn’t be costing more than $65-70. We like buying OEM PRevost parts, knowing they will be correct. I am just questioning the listing price for the Type 36. Other brake chambers we have on our bus, an XL 40 Motorhome, Type 24 ($68.29 on steer prevost part 640915) and Type 16 on tag part #642066 priced on our estimate $65.01) are comparable being a service brake chamber. On the drive we have a 30/36 price from Prevost is $200.57, which is not to bad for what another one cost us in 2009. That falls into line what I feel the Type 36 should be priced.
Any help clarifying this would be greatly appreciated.

I have had questions about the Prevost pricing strategy before and when I discussed this with the folks in Elgin the advice I was offered was to shop for better pricing. They do not formulate the pricing structure in Elgin so all they can do is help us with suggestions like that along with providing trade numbers on commodity items.

I’d say keep shopping, all the prices that I’ve seen mentioned here on PC have been somewhat high, compared to prices here in Ohio.

Orren, I have solved the Brake Chamber price issue, and have a price for 3036 which now sits by my desk
Jon, Elgin told me their prices come from the Pricing Dept in Quebec, that why I started this thread. Guess Dan has a gripe about his front brake chambers are priced from Prevost at $2500 We have 24’s, could we up fit to bigger chambers for more powerful stopping preessure?
The Type 24’s and 16’s are waiting to be picked up.
Air Bags showed up from Mira Loma yesterday, also at a very good price($158.53) for what they are around us. Cheapest is $2280 and tops out at over $4000 for a single 1R11-088 better known as 630104 or Goodyear number of 566-22-3-043 right on the bag.
Its now the Norgrens I have a stumbling block
We have a 5 port under the drivers seat I can see as a K81EA00 KAC KAC. This what I thought we needed. but… Prevost calls it a 641531, or a K910058. The block, is Norgren telling me while the above KAC KAC is close, its not a K910058 which is supposed to have gone thru rigid leak down test with differnet spool material that Prevost spec’d. Yet we have this exact 5 port on the coach in the drivers compartment, Norgren rep told me while I can use an identical K81 KAC KAC like the one we have plus the two other, they haven’t gone thru this leak test that Prevost asked them to do.
Ths Norgren rep told me that the K41EA00 KS1 KA2 (3 port) and the K81EA00 KAC KAC 5 port) will work replacing like old with the same new, he also said that they haven’t been thru the leak test Prevost had them do and our current valves are utilizied in another fashion for running air driven tools.???????So what are they doing on the bus????
So, presently we haven’t dealt with buying any valves until we blow the bus suspension up tomorow and look to see what’s on the bus underneath. Geesh
