  • Prerequisite to living the Prevost Lifestyle

Hi All: I’m new to this forum and I’m wondering whether one can enjoy the Prevost lifestyle from an MCI bus? I plan to find out. I’m a former Prevost owner who used to chat with a number of the folks on this board over at one of the the other Prevost sites. I had a 1990 XL converted by Country Coach — a close cousin to Roger Hang’s. I think our production numbers were within 5. About 2 years ago I went over to the world of the so-called “plastic coach.” Ours was real nice, but it was not a bus, so you know how it is — bus envy sets in. So when I saw a great deal in my own back yard, I purchased an MCI E4500 Renaissance converted by American Coach, Inc. of Allen Michigan. Anybody heard of them? They did Prevosts, too. Apparently a small converter that is now defunct, not related to the American Coach motorhome brand. The E4500 is MCI’s flagship bus, similar in many ways to the H-3, but with the addition of tag axel steering. Mine has the 12.7 Series 60 with Allison 4000 with retarder. All wheel ABS disk brakes, IFS, 4 Cruise Airs and OTR air. No slides. The conversion is very professional, with a two inverter electrical system similar the the Vantare system I saw discussed here recently. Anyway, back to my original question. I still have my Prevost hat. Does that, plus an MCI bus, qualify me to live the Prevost life?

p.s.: Haven’t picked up the new bus yet. Will post pics later.

Welcome Bryan and I remember you, the handle rang a bell. You are for sure welcome here and I for one would like to hear all about the MCI when you get your hands on it. If my memory is still intact, American did some great Prevost conversions and some of the those folks are at Panterra, one of our Advertisers.

Keep us posted and look forward to your posts…

Welcome back, Bryan, not surprised you have “returned” The very first bus we ever looked at when we first stasrted was an MC9 believe it….it had been featured in a very early FMCA and was a Hoffman Conversion. We saw 3 different Hoffman units and even visited their venue in PA on e time. Anyway, welcome back.

Bryan, any friend of the Hangman is a friend of ours. I am looking forward to seeing your coach photos.

American Coach was a family business and they made a nice coach. I had them do some remodeling in our first coach and was happy with their work. Back when they were in business there were a lot of converters also turning out some good coaches such as Angola, Pacific (Vision), and Hoffman (still in business).

Hi Jon. I’m sure there are instructions on the site for posting photos, but I can’t find them. Can you tell me where to look? At least I figured out how to post a thumbnail avatar. Thanks.
