Flathead Lake, MT
I will be making a trip to Flathead Lake, Montana in July and looking for suggestions on what campground is the best. I’ll be heading up around Bigfork, but looks like most of the campgrounds are on the southern part of the lake near Polson. Doesn’t seem to be a long distance by Jeep from the bottom of the lake to the top. Any help would be appreciated.

I am not familiar with the campgrounds, Tom, but I love Flathead Lake. If there is a prettier lake in the world I want to see it before I die!

It will be hard to get a spot at Polson in July. We will be there with about 8 other buses who all own there.
If you can’t get a spot let me know, call Paul at Polson Motorcoach. If it’s booked we have an ace in the hole.You don’t want to stay at Bigfork unless you want a bus full of sap. 35 miles up the east side of the lake.

Tom if you can’t find a place give. Me a call I have couple friends that have places up there I am sure you could park there, stop by ranch and stay for a bit

Trukster: Pete, EJ, Dan, Jo, Ed, Sandy , Me and Micki stayed at Polson Mortor coach last September and liked it and would go back. If the Motorcoach side is full up – ask about the adjoining KOA. We toured Glacier while there – it was a good hour and half ride as I recall. We were able to get a spot with the outdoor kitchen and ate several good meals while there. We had a big time.

We really enjoyed this park. Looked at Big Fork, but preferred this one. Had a great view of Flathead Lake. Paul is very accomodating, and the adjacent KOA would not bad if you can’t get into the Class A section of the park.
