Private “Campsites”
This is a general question…. Recently I have noticed a number of private Class A campsites where individuals have purchased private parking areas. Some of them include very nice ammenities such as storage, outdoor kitchens, gazebos… Can the forum community weigh in on this trend? Is this something that we will likely see more of? Other than price, what is the downside? THANKS

If it yours. you pay in one way or another, If you use 2 months a year you still have to pay 10 more months association/maintance fees. You are locked into same area year to year. you pat taxes-realstate. up you can rent it out (maybe ) a few times a year–realize you will prob want to use it prime time as would your potential renters. Have checked it out and it is cheaper to rent than own. monthly maintance fee was $145 month plus $875 property taxes plus utilities.. i could rent same property by the month including utilities for $600 month. Really got to watch residency requirements in some states and also remember who uses the property rules can be admended by majority of property owners vote any time including allowing park models. Bob’s assesment on the finances my be correct in some cases. I don’t beleive that has been the case with our lot at Hilton Head Motorcoach resort. We stayed there once and fell in love with the location as well as the people so we bought a lot about 6 months later. We like the fact that we are guarrented a spot anytime we want which is a big deal with my schedule and last minute trips. Our lot is in the rental pool when we arent there and returns enough income most years to cover the maintance and fees. But the biggest reason is the people there.Great place.

This book has most of the class “A” parks in the USA. Accurate information as the editors visit each park..

… is a good reference book but I do disagree with you about it containing most of the Class A parks.
It does contain information about the parks they visited but that is a short list compared to what is out there.
If you solely rely on Big Rigs, then you limit yourself and you will miss out on many great parks which may be nicer and, perhaps, even less expensive.
I do use the Big Rigs book but I do also use several other sources. Most of the time, I find additional parks in the area not mentioned in Big Rigs.
So if you rely soley on Big Rigs you may be driving many more but unnecessary miles.

The best source of campground suitable for Prevost owners is the PC Map. You can trust the campground lived up to one of your fellow PC members needs. I continue to be disappointed that more people don’t add campgrounds or even pay any attention to the map, it’s a valuable resource that seems to be ignored.
I also look at Big Rigs if I don’t see anything on the PC map, but I have learned over the years they pay little attention to tree’s and obstacles that can ruin your day.
