we may be heading to NYC towards the end of the month. Any suggestions? I saw the liberty island campground in jersey city. Does anyone have any experience staying there?

We love Liberty Harbor. Its nothing fancy but is safe, relatively easy to get into, and a great place for either ferry or train access into the city. We also like looking at the Mahattan skyline at night from that vantage point.

We have friends who are lifelong residents of Hoboken. Asked them about Liberty Harbor RV Park and this is their response:
“We checked the R V camp out yesterday, it’s about 3 miles from our home. It is in a safe area, near N Y ferries, but no are stores are near a bit away from Path Trains. It’s on the old Morris Canal, view of the City.”
Let us know how your trip goes. We plan on staying there in the next year or so.

I travel to NYC for business at least six times per year and have stayed at Liberty Harbor many times, during all seasons and weather. It is a great place. Not fancy, but the people are nice and the ferry service is VERY concenient to the Wall Street terminal. (Uber will also pick up there if the ferry is not running). There are also a number of really good restaurants within walking distance from the Marina and the traffic patterns in and out of the facility are easy to negotiate.
One other tip… if they are full during your anticipated stay, call and request a “dry site”. They alway have room in the boat dry storage area and they will allow you to run your generator in that area.

we did stay at liberty harbor. It was very convenient for us. Parking was tight as they tuck everyone in. 50 amp power and a water connection. No on spot sewer, they have a dump station.
the location was great. It was a short walk, about 2 blocks from the camp site to the lite rail. Take the rail to Lackawanna station in Hoboken and caught the path train to Manhattan.
Getting to to the camp was easy. No turning issues or problems with traffic. Getting out was a problem. Due to construction we had to take a detour. That was a challenge but we stayed behind some big trucks and found our way out.
Camp staff were very good and very friendly. We will stay there again.
