Well, actually we do see this everyday when we are home. We have thousands of Amish families in Northern Indiana. Many of the men work in the RV factories, amongst other factories. They have their buggies hitched all over town and you will also see farmers using their horses in the field such as this recent picture my wife took.

That must be Glasgow , Ky Wal Mart , right ? I don’t think Cave City will ever be big enough to get one.

Shipshewana doesn’t have a Walmart, but at their stores they have parking areas just for horses and wagons. With hitching posts. That guy at Walmart had to use a light post.

I was born and raised in Shawano, WI (25 miles NW of Green Bay). There are quite a few Amish families living and farming just to east of town near Bonduel. The Wal-Mart in Shawano had a handful of posts with rings (for tying horses to) and a water tank. This was a few years ago, I don’t knew if its there any longer.
If you’re out and about in rural areas and you see a sign like I’ve attached, trust me … there can very well be a buggy around the next corner or over the next hill. Be alert.

Where we lived in western NY we were in the middle of a large Amish population and those signs were common. It was also common to see the Amish come down the hill past our house going to the village hardware store. Something nice about hearing the horses hoofs on the pavement clopping to a rhythm.

Shipshewana, IN, soon. There are many Amish people living and working there. We do look forward to meeting some of them because the dialect they speak, is very similar to the German dialect Gabi would be speaking at home.
When she is p***** off at me, I just claim to not understand her. You know what that will do … 🙂
We have met a few Amish people already a couple of times during our travels and most of the times, we can understand and talk to them in their dialect.
The last time we passed Amish people traveling by horse and buggy, they look over at us and gave us the thumbs up!

That’s OK Ronald, you really can’t tel when you leave Cave City and enter Glasgow. They are both just suburbs of Horse Cave. ðŸ˜
