    Roger & Faye,

one word … PC Maps … (actually, that is 2 words) but, on PC Maps you will find an entry regarding Boyd’s.

Happens to me mine. In any event, getting a spot on Key West is difficult during the winter months and most people will accept whatever is available.

The good thing about Boyd’s is that it is within 5 miles of Key West city center. An easy bicylce ride because you should avoid taking a car into the city where parking is hard to find and expensive.

The bad thing about Boyd’s is that this is an old park and they do have only a few spaces that can take a 45 foot bus. These spots are right behind the wall on Maloney Ave. and closest to the main entrance.

Getting into the spot is an adventure. The spots are so tight and the road so narrow, that you have to manouver the bus back and forth for quite a while before it is in its final position.

When we did this we had 4 spotters assisting us of which 1 finally ran off not wanting to take any responsibility. It took me a good 30 minutes to back into the spot!

So if ou are up to that kind of torture, then go for it. Boyd’s is as close as you can get to Key West city and there are a couple of of great restaurants frequented by the locals within less than a 5 minutes walk from Boyd’s. If the locals eat there, then the food must be good. And it is!

    Cheers,

    Ronald

    Rodger,

It’s been years since we were there and it very very cramped unless it has changed… we were in a 45′ plastic coach and could only put out slides on one side if that tells you anything… In my personal opinion it’s a dump!!

There is a nice park the Key before Key West not too far away and worth the trip…can’t remember the name of it… someone on here will see this and know about it.

    Cheers, Diane

Anyone who has tried to find a vacant RV pad in Key West during the wintertime, knows that they are very hard to find. I tried to do this during October for some time in February and was put on a waiting list. Boyd’s is located about 5 miles from the center of Key West city. So it is an easy bicycle ride, which saves you from the hassles and cost of a parking space. This is a very old park and it shows. But they do have a captive audience, if you want to be close to KW. Space for Prevosts or any 45 foot coach is very limited and they shoe-horn you into place. It took us 30 minutes, with 4 watchers, one at each corner of the bus, to get into our spot. Definitely, not for the faint of heart.

The further one referred to by Dianne is Blue Water.

The Blue Water Key entry on the map is mine. I still need to get Becky to do the review part ( just not my thang – as they say).

We stayed there last March, top notch. We stayed on the canal side but would prefer the bay side. Very difficult to get reservation. It is at mile marker 14.2 as I recall on Saddle Bunch Key #3. A bit out of key west but not too bad of a drive. Our lot #2 was fairly close to US1 and when outside you could hear the road noise. Go further towards the gulf/bay if available.

The sites were made for big rigs, no problems getting in or out. The canal side are backin sites, bay side is pull in.

and we have been there a year ago or so. But, be forewarned, their rates are those of 5 Star hotels!

When we were there during a February, I believe we paid somewhere about $180 per night. You get what you pay for … very nice accomodations, for sure, but I consider this much too expensive. Furthermore, there is nothing of great interest nearby and Key West is 12 miles away, so you must drive there.
