Recommendation for Medina or Beaumont TX?
Looking at checking out Beaumont and/or Medina Texas this winter.
Anyone have any recommendations for location in Beaumont? We found Medina Highpoint Resort (formally Koyote Ranch). But other locations in Medina are welcome.
Also, how is the weather during the winter months in those areas? Trying to get out of the bitter cold Georgia weather (hey, I left Mass for a reason 25+ years ago! Georgia is even cold for me).
Beaumont looks interesting as it’s close to New Iberia Louisiana, Medina looks interesting for it’s rolling hills and trails (plus I could do some bike riding without wearing three layers of cloths to keep me sort of warm).

I use to live in Beaumont, I would look elswere.East Texas is beautiful but go a little north from Bmt. The weather is not great humid, rains alot, and dont know of a good park.

Pretty good spot but there isn’t much to do. Been there a couple of times during fishing season on the coast.

I think Galveston would be a better choice but let me tell you that last winter was miserably cold… Jon & Di can second that as they visited Lufkin and Galveston early Jan. and it was freezing temps everyday… coldest winter in many years. Usually temps aren’t nearly that bad.
Galveston to New Iberia is probably around 200 miles Galv to Beaumont is around 100 miles.
Beaumont is a pretty boring town I think… you might enjoy moving around a bit and go to Kemah and to Clear Lake area which is really nice.. you should be able to ride your bikes in all of those areas.Texas is a beautiful State … you might even consider going to Corpus Christi and South Padre Island… I think you might enjoy moving around a bit in order to find a place you really love.
Let us know if you do make it to Texas and we’ll see about getting a group together for a weekend or so…. might even be able to get Jon & Di back over here!!
Let me know if you need a heads up on Parks in those areas as we pretty well know them all.

having also lived in Beaumont for 5 years, it is not on my list of placing to visit. Not much to do unless you like the smell of naphtha rings in the morning.
