  • Last Minute Parking in Jacksonville, Florida?

Posted by Davy on November 10, 2015 at 4:12 pm

We have three nights off unexpectedly beginning tomorrow. We are in south Alabama and going to south Georgia. The weather in Jacksonville, Florida looks beautiful and we are thinking about running down there to rest. Any recommendations on places to park. We do not mind parking without hook ups but want a safe place to leave the bus while we explore in the car. We may run down to St. Augustine one day.

There are churches that will let me park (friends of friends) but then I will feel obligated to socialize for three days and we want some family time. I did find Pecan RV Park on the north side. Every review mentions the aiport noise and it is 40 minutes from the ocean. It is an option though.

    Any last minute ideas?

I do not know anything about Prevost Jacksonville’s facility or policy. Anybody else know?

I have stopped and spent the night, even two nights at Prevost Nashville on numerous occasions because they have told me over and over that it is open for me. I plug up when I have had work done and park with the entertainers when I have not.

    Davy,

You might consider staying in St Augustine. It’s a fun town with some great local restaurants and even better beaches. A few places to stay over here on the island are the KOA, Ocean Grove RV, and Bryn Mawr.

The KOA is the roomiest and has a trolley stop on property for tours for St Augustine. But be warned, their staff are less than hospitable.

Ocean Grove is where I have taken my bus. Friendly staff but not as roomy as the KOA.

And as for Bryn Mawr, well, it’s on the ocean. Never been in their park, but many of the Prevost owners on this site have stayed there before.

    Davy,

Prevost Jax is the place to stay, but limited power. I’ve always been able to hook up, maybe just luck of the draw.

North of Jacksonville, beachside. Large (400+ acres) city park with 300+ RV sites. Lots of trees, trails, 1/4 mi stroll to mile+ beautiful uncrowded beach. Park is gated with daily use fee, additional gate into the camping area. Browse for “Hanna Park Jacksonville” for more info. Was there late last year and will go back.

I ended up at Pecan by the airport. It is pretty full and the turns are tight but doable. I doubt I could have managed the turns with my trailer on. Could have made it with the car but I unhooked it just in case.

I hated to move into Prevost Jacksonville and stay for three nights. I have done it at Nashville but I have been in there a lot and know those guys. Plus I was not drinking their electric when I stayed three nights.

Hannah Park sounds really close to what I was looking for but unfortunately I am already at Pecan, paid up and parked.

    Thanks for the help.

If you are retired millitary, Mayport NAS is the place to go. They have a great RV park( actually 2 ).
