Refrigerator Upgrade ?
Any recommedations on a Fridge Upgrade for a Coach ? I have heard about some Low Power consumption models out. Does anyone have any advise on which ones to use and or which ones to stay away from ? I want a Double Door , Ice and water ?

I’m guessing you have an Amana or similar in your Liberty. We pulled ours from our coach and replaced it with an “apartment depth” Bosch.
I never compared current draw, but without having data to compare it seemed to be considerably more efficient. What was significant was its sound level. We could not hear it run, and no we both have good hearing.
I have since learned that its design apparently used an always running compressor and as the temperatures varied the compressor would run at variable speeds to meet the temperature requirements. I think with little incentive we would toss the current Sub Zero in our present coach and replace it with the Bosch. The Sub Zero has been unreliable and it is loud.
So I cannot help you regarding energy efficiency other than a guess, but the Bosch has proven to be the best refrigerator we ever owned, house or bus.

We chose a KitchenAid side by side with ice and water in the door for the dimensions and a frig in the home wife liked. Sears had the easiest website to compare many different brands and had all the dimensions. We did a physical measurement also as insurance because it was shipped to Panterra for installation as part of a remodel. Best advice I have is choose a brand you like, check out reliability comparisons and make sure it is rated for quiet.

One thing to be careful with on the new refrigerators, is some do not run on the old square wave inverters. Your Liberty will have the modified sine wave Heart 2,500’s. I believe the LG’s have a problem.

We just installed a new Kenmore 51789 just like Tom put in his coach. We have modified sine wave inverters. Has anyone with that model Kenmore had problems with the older inverters? Or should I be looking at new inverters?

We also did the refrigerator replacement using the Kenmore 51789. Our Marathon is 2000 on 1999 chassis …no
operation issues . Using Truk’s suggestion as he did all the leg work finding Kenmore 51789 only thing we had to do was remove the rollers for a slide in to existing slot.

We are also looking at a frig replacement. The condenser fan on our 2002 Amana decided to move south on our last trip. Then the defrost decided to try and fill the gap by remaining on all of the time. Given many of the comments above, it seems that the most humain thing to do is stick a DNR tag on it.
So now it comes to selection of the new one and I have a general question. With the Amana, we used spring loaded retainer bars in front of the shelf so that we did not have any unplesant suprizes opening the door after a long days ride. How do you deal with this issue with double door frig’s like the Kitchen Aid shown above. I guess I could get a spring loaded curtain rod…. maybe not…

Mary Ellen uses the spring loaded rods in refrig available from Camping World. They look sort of weird
bracing loose items. Bottom line they work and we rarely have surprize issues opening the door.

In my previous picks you can see the leather strap w/velcro holding the 2 upper handles, and the little piece of aluminum I made and installed on the lower right hinge that keeps the freezer drawer from accidentally opening
