    Hi folks,

Its time to switch out Lindsays the old Trailblazer towed vehicle. We have decided to get a year or 2 old Jeep GC Limited. I know a bunch of you have Jeeps in your fleets. My question is about Jeeps lifetime bumper to bumper warranty. I am not a big warranty guy because i usually get frusrated with the fine print and the need to fight for everything. Can anyone provide any feedback on their experience with it? Thanks, Jeff

We bought it with ours with $100 deductible/per visit. Been good so far! Covers everything but wear items. If you plan on keeping your car for awhile, its worth it.

    Jeff,

We didn’t purchase it when we bought ours in late ‘15. I usually find they cost more over the long run than their worth, so we self insure. So far, there’s only been one item that would have been covered by a warranty. But I guess it would really depend how much their lifetime warranty cost.

Mine has been one of our best vehicles, but will probably sell since we also have a Dodge Ram which is more useful on the farm and which we can tow as well.

We have the GC Summit and the cost was less than $3000 dollars.

It’s based on the value of the vehicle.

We also have the warranty on our Ram truck. We don’t trade often or put on a lot of miles, so it will eventually pay for itself! I’ve seen warranties cost more and only last 5 years or 100,000 miles.

It’s not a secondary insurance, its through Chrysler corp.

Thanks for the replies. My father always said buying insurance or a warranty is like gambling. The problem is you are betting something bad will happen and they are betting it wont. We made a deal on a 2015 GCL and with some reluctance got a lifetime warranty. The cost was around 3k.We keep our daily drivers until the Michigan winters get the best of the body and we just dont want to be seen in them. Time will tell if we made a wise decision. Thanks again for your responses.jeff

The net of this, from my view, is that you have an idea of your future expenses.

They cannot be avoided but can be mitigated to some extent. The warranties that are “extended” from my view, represent a reasonable value depending on the mileages driven and the time purchased …. but I like the feeling of simply knowing if the air conditioning / transmission / electronics / engine issues are serious, I am comfortable with solution which gives me the peace of mind.

On our Jaquar, the extra $3800 covered over $12,000 and on the Corvette, the $3300 covered some $5500 …. each being on the additional 100,000 mile extended warranty ….but I may be different in that I drive my cars a lot and over extended miles.

In Texas, we do not talk in miles but in time it takes….

    Best to all,

    Pres
