2015 GMC Sierra Denali
Do the new Sierra Denalis acrue miles while towing? If so, is there any way around it? I didn’t think they did but I also don’t think I’ve put as many miles on the truck as the odometer is showing.

Isn’t the Denali an all wheel drive vehicle?

the newer ones are available with a 2 speed transfer case.

Dean.. it’s funny you should say that because we were just wondering the same thing… we have to disconnect our battery with a battery cut-off switch ( to unlock the power steering) so I don’t see how it could add miles… I will definately check it when we leave Crystal Beach for home on Monday… going to write the miles down… have been saying that then forgetting !!

Basically the same thing for me. I intended to pay attention and record the mileage but forgot to.

thinking about 2016 GMC Denali. Which bettery cutoff switch did you get on yours to allow for the unlocking of the steering?

I assume due to the many complaints from owners who purchased the new models of GM SUVs and trucks thinking they would tow as older models there is now listed on their websites an transmission option which is exactly like the older models. My GMC truck does not register mileage when towed and does not require a battery disconnect. -
Our 2011 GMC HD 2500 Denali equipped Duramax with a transfer neutral “red letter N” on twisty transfer case knob, doesn’t need key in ignition, requires no battery disconnect, and no mileage added while towing. It’s just heavy-7700 lbs. now equipped with SMI Air Force One braking.

My understanding is that some of the late 2014 and all 2015 GMs have a locking steering column and it simply requires a battery cutoff switch in order to keep the steering unlocked. A PIA but worth the sacrifice… A lot of problems in the beginning with them trying to fugure it all out but I think they even have had several fixes some good and some not so good… we are used to it now so it doesn’t bother us at all… but our old Suburban was a breeze to do.
The 2015 is so superior to the 2014 and older models its worth the extra effort to us.
I will have to check what kind of battery cutoff switch I bought it was a marine grade big red thing… maybe Guest brand. I had Chevrolet install it so the warranty would not be effected.
