Cadillac Escalade towing
I have a new Escalade ordered. Just saw that GM is not installing the chip that activates the electronic steering wheel lock due to chip shortage. Would assume this means you do not have to disconnect battery to tow. Sure hope mine is built without that chip.

SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali - 2021 CADILLAC ESCALADE / ESV
Luxury, Premium Luxury, Premium Luxury Platinum, Sport, Sport Platinum
Dealers are warned that this change will last for at least the rest of the 2021 model year and that they should communicate the change with owners who purchase vehicles without the column lock so they understand that the feature is missing. Vehicles built without electronic steering column locks will have RPO Code R7N- Not equipped with Electronic Steering Column Lock and will see a $50 credit on the MSRP.

towing just pulled fuse for lock

What about trans issues? Cadillac dealer GM told us that under no circumstances to flat-tow our 2021 Escalade Platinum ESV. Warranty would be toast. Said it related more to the transmission than the chip on the steering.

Had an ESV Escalade that was All Wheel Drive – for that reason it could not be flat towed as no way to put transfer case in neutral.

Cadillac Escalade can be towed if it has a neutral selection for the transaxle.
