  • Generator Starting Issues

Posted by Rodney on May 22, 2016 at 7:57 pm

I have a Martin Generator in my 1990 Marathon Conversion. I have replaced all the relays in the generator relay box plus the ones in the panel on the main floor. I can start the generator by holding the start button either on the generator or on my panel above. I then have to jump the starter. Since this has been happening for a while, I have a remote starter installed. It seems everything is working except for the start to get it’s signal.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be the issue stopping the generator to start?

Sounds like a starter solenoid bad?

    I agree with Jerry.

The reason I didn’t investigate the solenoid sooner was that I had just replaced it last year. The previous owner had left a starter for the generator in the bus. I had it checked out. Starter was toast, but the solenoid worked. Replaced the solenoid and all was well. Not sure what caused my solenoid to go bad in a year.
