  • Gen reset

    Sometimes when I start gen it tries but locks out with three blinks then I reset it and try again sometimes three or four times then starts glow plugs working someone said to put new fuel pump on what do u guys think it use to try once then try second time and start now if it turns over it starts first time very odd It’s a power tech 17.5 it will maybe turn 1/8 of turn then lock out more just a grunt then flash code put new oil pressure sensor in need advise please Once you reset it and keep trying to start it It will start it has always started but sometimes you have to reset it outside but it will start very odd

    If it can’t turn the engine fully over while starting I’d check the batteries and connections first. Could also be the starter commutator or brushes going bad.

    Interestingly, I have the Powertech 20KW with similar behavior. I push preheat/prime for a few seconds then start. It will start and then die immediately regardless whether I keep the start switch pushed or not. The second start is usually successful. Once it is running there are no further issues (e.g. plenty of oil pressure).

    I thought it might be checking for oil pressure too quickly but shorting the oil pressure switch did not fix the behavior. I assume it is some other over eager electronic nanny. Maybe the AC present check circuit. Since it is running fine once started I have not dug into it further.

    I think I have got it I replaced ECU and it did not do it battery good thanks for help I will report back in couple weeks and see if that helped mine needed to reset three or four times but it would start sometimes it would just start on first push of button we will see

    The new ECU fixed the starting problem all works great now
