  • Gen Cooling Fan Tutorial wanted

Posted by joel on July 25, 2016 at 3:30 pm

Discovered the squirrel cage type fan installed by Liberty to ventilate the gen copartment is not working. It’s inside or close to the electrical cord reel. Anybody have any hints or tutorial on replacing?

Just did both of mine take apart the metal that covers cord reel mine was in the OTR bay on drivers side got new fans from Grainger had to cut one edge of fan cage to go up against wall and cut the old round flange off old one and put on new one , for vent pipe to go on ,one is held in place with bolts through the floor of bay nuts under coach and the other one was screwed from Gen compartment to the fan at least mine was, did not take all that long maybe three hours from start to finish

I just had the fan om my generator stop working and after a little troubleshooting determined that it was the starting capacitor for the fan motor. Access to the J-Box where it is mounted was not good, so I created an access panel in the airboxwall. All is good once again and if it needs changing again it won’t be such a bad job.
