  • 20KW Powertech issues

Havent investigated the problem fully yet, but wanted to know if any of you guys could offer some insight on things to check.

Recently, the AC power supplied by the generator has been finicky. I have 2 inverters on the coach, 1 is the older model Heart Freedom 25 with the older display/on-off panel. The other is the newer (a yr old) Heart/Xantrex Freedom 25 with the Xantrex SCP LCD display. The older inverter typically shows AC input, however the new one has been staying on and rarely changing from the “Qualifying AC” status, only on rare instances coming off of that. Occasionaly, after running a while the generator power will fluctuate, sometimes drop out all-together, and then come back, with the cycle sometimes repeating several times until i have to shut the generator off.

AC voltage stays around 120ish volts per the inverter and the meters in the switch panel. Everything functions properly when plugged into shore power, so i know the problem is likely somewhere in the generator.

Besides the inverter, indicating the power issues i also notice it in one of the AC units. Plugged into shore power, the AC fan will blow full blast, however on generator power although set for full blast, it only blows about 1/3 speed.

Any insight would be appreciated. my first guess is to check the voltage regulator. not that its related, but i just recently replaced the starter and everything worked great until a few weeks ago when this issue started appearing.

The ONLY electrical problem I’ve had with mine was a defective voltage regulator which caused irregular gen shutdown due to lack of AC output.

More than likely it will be the voltage regulator , I would start there
