Generator compartment heat venting?
I am looking for possible options to allow heat removal from my generator bay. Unless there is a reason I shouldn’t, it seems there should be venting and there is none for my coach. The few times I have actually had to use it while stationary and not in a campground, I usually opened the bay door for extra cooling help. Also, what product is typically used to wrap or enclose the exhaust flex piping. I recently had my generator quit putting power out while running and my checks pointed me toward having to pull it out in order to get to the brushes etc and I have always wondered about circulating air in that compartment and want to make any needed modifications while it is out.
BTW, I don’t want to cut on the door.

Richard this brings up a great Question for me also. Today I was looking at my aux compressor compartment. On the back wall of Bay 1 there is an access door where my aux compressor is. I replaced the filter, and added a water trap, but i am wondering if there should be a fan here sitting on top of this grate? Anyone have an access area like this? I guess this is How my generator gets fresh air from under the Bus?

Our genny compartment has a 120v electric fan mounted in a side wall and evacuates the air out the bay floor. Dayton pt# 1TDR3. About $100 at Grainger.

Mike, the round thing on the floor is the level used when you hit the HWH auto leveling. If you don’t get level when the indicator says level you can adjust the sensor ever so slightly in the different directions to make it more accurate.
The filter you show is for the incoming air going to your genset. Be sure to clean that filter from time to time as it’s drawing in dust and dirt from the ground only a few inches below your bus. I used water to wash mine off and the filter completely disintegrated. Found a replacement at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

My Liberty has the same setup pictured.
Although you don’t want to cut the door, I would think it the simplest setup. 6 inch square hole in floor of gen compt with a fan to exhaust air out bottom of bus and pull cooler air in through door. I would just replace the door skin with a new perforated one from intl. bus parts.

If there is no venting in the door then you will need 2 holes in the floor. On filtered to keep road dust out and the other with a small blower, like pictured above (4″ exhaust min) to evacuate the air, while drawing new air in. Usually these are placed at opposite corners of the bay if possible so the air flow is over and across the generator body as much as possible.
The blower can be mounted to the floor but if you can put it on a Pipe to get it as high in the bay as possible is best. Royale Coach would usually put theirs on a 4×4 box made of aluminum.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to mount a fan as pictured and pipe it through the floor with a incoming filtered draw hole. What is the current wrapping used for flex exhaust piping?
