Smart Phone App
Posted by Archived on August 9, 2014 at 12:12 pmIf Tom and Jon were to develop one, would you use it?
Personally, I’d love to have the option to stay up on the posts by having something that is scaled to fit my phone while on the go or waiting in line and doesn’t require me to sit at a desktop.

I would certainly use it for the reasons mentioned. It might be a life and $$ saver if a breakdown occurred and it was your only source.

Karl, junk that iphone and get a real phone with a bigger screen 🙂
I actually use my Nokia windows phone, turn it sideways and can use the site with very little problems. The default editor for posting isn’t the most mobile friendly, but it works better then a stick in the eye.

Agree, mobile-enabled (and small screen real estate friendly) would be great way to keep up.
I use my iPad, but still must launch browser, go to PC web page, wait for it to load, click on “log in”, wait for auto-fill on user name and password, then click on “view post since log on”… Whew!! That’s a lot of clicks! 😉
An iPhone / iPad version would be great!!!

or…..just wait a couple of months for the “NEW” Iphone with the larger screen…..LOL

I use my ipad as well but have saved PC as a icon on my pad…touch and go…

I don’t see myself diving into the Phablets such that I look like a fool walking around with a dinner plate held to my head whilst making a phone call, but it could happen.
Even then, formatting to the phone is more than making the font larger by turning it landscape. It eliminates all of the superfluous media as well, slimming the whole package to something easier to digest.
I’d also like to see it coupled with the ability to read 1 or 2 posts without losing my place. You know, when you click on “Last Read” you either have to read everything there or not know what you haven’t read.
Let’s give them some more ideas and see what happens!

most of the bigger hosting services offer a service to turn a desktop size website into a mobile friendly webpage.
I have tested that a couple of times with my own websites. The result is not necessarily pretty but it is useful.
However, I do not know if such service exists to make bulletin boards iPhone/iPad friendly.
No doubt, this can be quickly answered by Jon’s and Tom’s web guru.

I use my iPhone to view and post on the site almost everyday. It works and displays great for me
