I look forward to meeting you all in the Prevost Community. I am relatively newcomer to the bussing world. I looked at busses for several years and finally settled on an MCI MC-9 two years ago. It is a good bus, but I soon learned about Prevost and I began my search for one. I did find a 1981 Liberty Le Mirage about a year ago. It is powered by a DD 8V-71TA with an Allison automatic and has 170,000 miles showing on the odometer.I have not had much time to work on it, although I have removed most of the dated interior. During deconstruction of the interior I have learned to appreciate how well built Prevost busses are and the workmanship of Liberty. I still have the MCI and I am currently prepping it to sell, then my full attention can be focused on the Prevost.

It looks good in pictures, but in person some of the paint is starting to peel. A paint job is in my future!

Brian,
You have a Liberty that will have systems and bay layouts like a lot of the newer ones. There have been changes over the years and improvements, but their systems have been robust and worked well so the fundamentals are good. Ask away if you have questions. The Prevost web site http://prevostparts.volvo.com/technicalpublications/en/wiring.asp is a good place to start although the documentation on older coaches is not as good as later models for chassis questions.
Your coach when originally built may have had a motor driven AC electric generator in place of an inverter, it likely had a converter or pair of converters for battery charging, and maybe some DC electric panels located in three or four places in the house portion of the bus instead of all located in bay 2 driver’s side, but the rest of the systems are likely to be the same or similar to the Liberty coaches built for decades

You definitely know your Prevosts! My curbside 3rd bay is full of stuff I have yet to really dig into and try to determine what is what (although I will likely replace all of it with newer equipment – currently looking for a Xantrex SW4024 to replace all of it).
