  • Happy Customer of Silverleaf Coach in Phoenix, AZ

    Fellow Prevost Community Members,

While this is only my second thread on this forum, I have been an owner for over (3) years. If you live in Arizona, travel through Arizona, or winter in Arizona (or the Southwest) please consider Silverleaf Coach in Phoenix, Arizona for your routine, emergency, or other service needs. Silverleaf spun off of Premium Coach Group and is led by (2) individuals I consider as friends and family – Chris and Kathy Weaver. Since buying my 1997 Prevost Marathon XLV a few years ago I have trusted Chris and Kathy to perform major service and repairs beyond my own troubleshooting and repair/service capabilities.

Chris Weaver is like the Wikipedia of Prevost coaches of all vintages and converters with a unique knowledge base for Marathon since he worked there for about a decade and a half including the year my coach was built. I consistently bounce questions and ideas off of him because he is a wealth of knowledge and willing to share that knowledge to the type of people active here on POG (hands-on owners…not merely drivers).

Kathy’s professionalism in scheduling, office management, parts procurement, documentationetc. is second to none. My coach has spent most of August living at Silverleaf as I have had some major items serviced. Kathy knows what parts cost and will seek out all available options to find the best possible pricing for unique items like the Marine grade radiator hoses on my genset that fed the Chevrolet 454 c.i. radiator tucked away in the central tunnel of my Marathon. She saved me several hundreds of dollars by finding a supplier that was more reasonable than the major sources which benefited me via substantial savings. They also identify items that would be best adjusted, replaced, or otherwise serviced while in their shop to avoid a potential breakdown on the road. They will even triage the items to determine what should be done immediately or what should simply be planned for future oil changes.

I also find that their knowledge of coaches saves a tremendous amount of labor hours in diagnosis, discovery, and troubleshooting time. That savings multiplied by a very competitive service rate leads to excellent value when having routine service, major service, or repairs completed at their shop in Phoenix.

I am a happy customer and would only make this recommendation here if I was willing to put my name behind their work. I highly recommend Chris & Kathy Weaver at Silverleaf Coach here in Phoenix, Arizona. They are a great team!

    Matt,

Do you know if Chris used to work at Taylor Tours in Phoenix?

Jon – Thanks for adding the website link

Bill – Yes, Chris and Kathy were at Taylor Coach in Anthem. That is where I first met them when having my coach serviced there as a first time owner. I didn’t know what to do when they left. I was pleased to find that they had resurfaced in a new location. The Silverleaf Coach name was created earlier this year as the service center business was spun-off of Premium Coach Group which is located in another area of town. Chris and Kathy have a vested interest in Silverleaf’s future so they are working hard to create a solid base of happy clients. They have plenty of service bays, a secure yard, and nearly a dozen people working on their team. Other Marathon people must have tracked Chris and Kathy to Silverleaf because when I was last there I counted (6) of them…all newer and arguably nicer than my 1997.

I am not exactly unbiased when I suggest this, but Silverleaf should advertise on PC. It keeps the company in front of the largest concentration of Prevost owners and and enthusiasts on the planet.

We will also encourage members to post reports of their experiences and a good service facility that can handle the conversions will be really needed in the southwest and we would like to participate in helping it grow.

Matt, this is PC not POG, but that’s OK.

If I find a Coach in Arizona or Calif. would Silverleaf be good for a Prepurchase inspection? Obviously, if I find on in the east I will use East Tennessee for my pre inspection.

I think every potential purchaser should view themselves as the primary for a pre-purchase inspection. I am not suggesting any of us know all there is to know and therefore we do not need help. I am strongly urging all regardless of experience or knowledge to enlist the aid of professionals to assist, and to follow them around during the inspection, asking questions, making sure every knob, button, dial, switch or lever is actuated to see what is controlled and to verify it all works. That becomes the initial coach training session and if you as a potential buyer ask questions about everything you are getting a hell of a lot out of it, more than a bill or a piece of paper.

If you are too busy to dedicate the time, you have my sympathy.

    Michael,

To answer your question. Yes, I would consider them a great source for a PDI especially if you end up with a Marathon. Chris did my PDI and was exhaustive both on the house and Chassis side. We purchased it from a AZ broker and the agreement was seller paid to fix what was found and they found a significant amount of stuff. As Jon indicated everything was tested down to the radios and the TVs in the bunk beds… one of which needed to be removed and repaired… and lots of other stuff that I would have never found alone. The complete process took more than two days…. I was sent a full report and then had a call with Chris and the seller to review what was going to be fixed. I didn’t stay for the full PDI inspection as Job suggests but after it was all repaired flew back and spent two days of training and two nights in the bus playing before we took delivery. It was time well spent and in my case was all included in the sales price we agreed to. Thru Jon and Tom on PC I was connected with Boateral AL from PC that walked thru the purchase journey with me and was super helpful with converter specific questions. When you find the right bus reach out here with details of what you found and I am sure someone will step up and help. I was a first time Prevost owners and I didn’t knkow what I didn’t know. I was smart enough to ask for help and I can’t tell you how valuable AL and others were and continue to be for us. It took us 3 years to find the perfect bus for us and we have been loving it since.

    Good luck on the search

    Bill
