  • New member needs info on past member’s coach

Posted by Archived on March 21, 2014 at 9:26 am

Hi folks, I’m in the process of purchasing JOHN KLOPP’S coach and would appreciatte any information about service and maintenance that has been done to the unit. There are no papers with the unit and to my knowledge the family hasn’t been able to obtain any records either. I will take everything to zero if need be but if information is available it would greatly be appreciated. Btw my name is Andre’ or you can call me “PAPA”. Thanks again for any info you have.

Welcome Andre… You may want to allow your e-mail address to be seen. Go to “Profile” and change it to allow mail to you.

If the coach was serviced by Prevost they will have the service records. Give one of the service centers a call with the coach VIN number and they can provide any information that they have.

Thanks, that was my next move. The pdi was done, there was a leaking tag so I was going to call Prevost to get pricing on bags and was going to inquire about any service that the coach may of had.

In reading all the post from JOHN KLOPP I noticed he appeared to be diligent about maintenance, but I would like to have a paper trail.

By faxing a copy of the title to Prevost they can email you a tabulation of the service history. That will be a good starting point.

But on any coach, absent receipts or log book entries it is just a good practice to zero out everything anyway. It need not all be done instantly, but over the course of a few months do oil and filter changes, transmission fluid and filter changes, coolant changes, lube, etc. Tires and batteries have date codes so do them as needed.

Look at brake pad and shoe friction material thicknesses. Look for leaks, Look at the air bags, especially where they roll over the “piston” Pay attention to the gauges to verify it isn’t leaking. make sure it doesn’t suffer the leans. Inspect the belts and hoses and if in doubt, replace them.

Once you get all done you have accomplished two important things. You now have peace of mind, and secondly you have created a base for future maintenance events.

Thanks Jon, I plan on doing just that absent any hard copies of verified service.

This is not of such a large assist but please know that when we got the coach from storage in November, the chassis batteries were kaput. We put in new NAPA type 31’s at that time.

The coach was immediately driven to Nashville where I presume you found it.

    Chuck,

NAPA Batteries are on the PC – NAPA discount program.

Did you use the NAPA card ?

Thanks Chuck, there were a few issues that came up in the pdi that concerned me,, but I can live with until I do a total service on the unit.

    Jeff,

John’s coach was a 97 40 foot Royale. Most of the time John had it he kept it in Nashville.
