Just a reminder, if you have your insurance through Exlporer, they have sold out to Safeco and will no longer write bus policies. Suggest you contact Miller, a PC Advertiser, for your insurance needs.

Got a call from Mark yesterday and he received a letter regarding Safeco and it appears they will continue to write bus policies. Mark will jump in here, he had a few conversations with them. Here’s the letter he received:

Just to add, I talked to both National Int. and Safeco. National Interstate was not much help as they said they did not know for sure what Safeco was going to do as far as agreed value vs. actual cash value policies so I called Safeco directly. They told me that in my state, MN, they would write agreed value policies. So I guess I will wait for my letter and pricing from them in about a month. My policy does not expire until late October, and they said they would get it out about a month ahead of time.
So I guess I will find out then if they will keep selling agreed value, and what their pricing structure looks like.

Everybody should understand the insurance industry that has knowledge of and has written policies for bus conversions has contracted significantly with some leaving entirely, some restricting size or value and the remainder of companies increasing rates.
It is likely any policy renewals are going to be expensive and the solution in my opinion is not to go with companies that do not specialize in bus conversions. Right after an accident is not the time to find out you were not properly insured. If agencies that specialize in our conversions like Miller place your Prevost with a company you can be comfortable you are properly insured. I went through a very expensive bus fire claim and realized how important the right insurance company and agent can be. It was a no hassle claim and repair.
