  • Marathon Blind Control Logic Boards

Posted by Michael on March 29, 2026 at 12:58 am

I thought I would share a learning on my Marathon in hopes it might help someone down the road. My 2004 had two logic boards over the drivers door that controlled the Curb Side and Driver Side blinds with control from two Rocker Switches and the Crestron system. One of the logic boards failed entirely and the other was intermittent on one of the 4 blinds it controlled. Marathon has not built these boards in years and they would change the entire system at a pretty high cost.

I had AI evaluate the function of the board and it pointed me to off the shelf components (one Arduino board, one relay board, and one power step down board per side). It then walked me through capturing the IR timing from the Crestron then wrote a new sketch program including a web interface. Now I have it in place and it controls all the blinds like before through the Crestron and the rocker and now through a web interface. All of the components I was able to get off Amazon for about $40 and now I can swap any parts if ever needed and change the programming myself.

I would be glad to provide more information if anyone faces the same issue someday. Happy DIYing.

Would this make it possible to run the blinds individually? Mine just currently function off of the rocker switches and each side comes down all at once. There was a universal remote that was apparently programmed at one point to control the different shades, but it does not control the blinds anymore, just the AV equipment.
