Good to know, previous owner on my bus took them off, said noise bothered him…and ofcourse he did not keep them. Do these things get beat up after lotta miles going down the road?
-
Ours got really beat up when road construction detoured us down a street with low hanging limbs…
-
I lost 3 of my 4 from low limbs… I wasn’t going to replace them but last time I was at Marathon I saw a bus that someone had made about a 1″ wide protector it apeared to protect the sensor without reducing it’s effectiveness… Might look into that at somepoint…

I know these are safety devices intended to retract the awning if winds arise, but it didn’t take Di and I long to realize our awnings can and will be quickly damaged if winds kick up, so we never extend awnings if it is windy, and we never leave them extended unless we are with the coach.
The anenometer is like de-icing on a plane. Rule number one don’t extend the awnings in windy conditions. Rule number two, if you find the awnings out in windy conditions, retract them. Rule number three, if you were dumb enough to ignore rules one and two, you have to rely on the equipment to save your ass.
Regarding icing, rule number one is do not go into icing conditions. Rule number two is if you did get into icing conditions, get out. If you were dumb enough to ignore rules number one and two use the equipment. You have no other options.

I won’t trust it either, but a Marathon cannot have a crappy broken wind thingy.
