Quick poll…Who seems to have the best cell service when traveling, Verizon, ATT or T Mobile?

I have had Verizon since it was GTE in my coaches. Never had any loss of service. However, keep in mind I am happiest when the phone does not ring.

I’m using the FMCA deal on a Sprint MIFI. Works fine for me. I have it tethered via USB to a Pepwave router. Slick set-up.

How the hell could your phone ring, it has to be turned on for that to happen.

We currently have Verizon and had AT&T for many years prior. They both worked about the same where we have gone. We lost the AT&T signal at our home in MN a couple of years ago when they had equipment issues they refused to fix. That is when we switched to Verizon. Both have good and bad issues, so for us it is about a wash. We kept Verizon here in TN since it worked in our new home. We may re-visit that when we start travelling again.

T-Mobile’s 55+ plan is awesome. $70/month for 2 lines. You say phone service so I will not add in Internet service as those options are so wide and varied. This plan does include unlimited internet on both phones and some hotspot usage. More hotspot usage is available for a small add-on.

The phone hard wired in the bus is always on. But unlike other phones I cannot reach it while driving, and when I do get a call a voice announces who the caller is. If it someone whose number I have stored, it announces the caller by name. If the number is not in my contacts list the phone announces the number.
A phone call from a robot or telemarketer sometimes interferes with my watching “Taxi” reruns.

West of the Mississippi Verizon was much better for a long time I don’t know if other carriers have improved their service or not. East of the Mississippi really didn’t matter.

T-Mobile service is excellent throughout the US. We lost service at the beach in the Long Beach area, but literally, only at the beach. That was a couple of years ago and that might have been improved as well with the Sprint merger.

Interesting post.
I had both an AT&T and a Verizon phone at the same time and both worked well throughout the USA. There was the occasional times when one didn’t work and the other did. Always found Sprint and T-Mobile to only be useful in large metropolitan areas.
It sounds like the merger Sprint and AT&T has provided much better service, to the level they may be able to compete with AT&T and Verizon nation wide now.
