Roadside Assistance Which One
Searched past threads on this topic and it seemed that Good Sam was losing peoples confidence. Several more votes then for Coach Net over the others. However there was several later disgruntled with coach net.
Any comments as of lately o which to use and displeasure with a service request.

Horrible experience with Good Sam’s. Switched to Coach Net, have not had any claims experience with them yet.

Never had anything other than Good Sam over the last 20+ years. Have been towed 4 times without issue. You just have to ensure you pay for the highest plan available (Platinum?) that includes MH towing. The cheaper plans do not.

Had the platinum plane and was stranded on the side of I-75 in Atlanta GA. Took the guy forever to get to us, didn’t have the proper tools, lreft us stranded for a few more hours, returned with improper tools, patched the problem and sent us on our way. Same item broke again a couple of hours later while driving. 2nd good Sam guy shows up and was equally useless. Called Prevost PASS and payed out of our pocket to the PASS people. That got us back on the road and back home to FL
Never ever again for Good Sam

I had heard good things about CoachNet so I gave them a call. My coach is 1989 Chassis with a 1990 conversion. I was told to pound salt. CoachNet told me twice that they would not cover my coach. So the options are slim with Good Sam, but I can call Prevost PASS, and get assistance even if costs a wad of $.

Never ever again for Good Sam
While I am sorry to hear about your experience with Good Sam, that does not diminish the results we have seen. I have never had anyone try to do a road side repairs, so that might be the difference, but we have been towed to the correct repair facility all 4 times we have been towed in the last 20 years.

LOL, In this day and age, it is nearly impossible to find a product or service that will have the collective “Approved” stamp.

Do you use CoachNet? Your coach is only three years newer than mine, so I am curious if you are able to sign up for CoachNet.

I do not, I use AAA. I had to tow only once the day i brought the bus home, saved me over 2K. I think they might have a towing cap by now though.

Have used Road Side Assistance through FMCA, Great service, response time even in Canada.

Just looked on FMCA and can’t find option for roadside assistance.

We’ve had our Prevost since May of 2014; 9+ years.
We’ve had AAA RV since 2005 when I bought the Suburban and enclosed trailer for the race car. I’ve had the Suburban on the roll back and the trailer on the stinger at least three times that I can recall … all at no cost to me except for a tip to the tow truck guy. We continue to have AAA RV for the cars, Suburban, and trailer.
I couldn’t start the coach once early on (late 2014) … dead chassis batteries. Called AAA, told them I needed 24 volts, they came out, took one look, called “the head man”, and said they wouldn’t touch it. Come to find out one of the six month old Interstate Group 31’s had a dead cell. Jumping the bus would have been only a temporary solution. Battery replaced under warranty a week later.
I dismissed Good Sam as a viable service. I’m leery of Camping World and hence Good Sam’s ability to address a Prevost.
I thought about CoachNet back in 2014 to about 2017 as I saw pretty good comments on the PC Forum. But procrastinated. So now I’ve saved ten years of CoachNet fees, so I’m kinda working on their money as my Dad would say.
I’ve come to the conclusion that CoachNet (or any towing insurance policy) is only as good as the customer service rep that takes your call, their network of towing companies, and the willingness of Coachnet or AAA RV to part with their money. I think I’ve seen the reports about using CoachNet lately mention a declining quality of service. Any network is likely going to try to find the least costly provider … who may or may not be able to get the job done with a Prevost safely.
This past weekend I had the occasion to visit with the owner of a multi-location towing company that has 20 pieces of equipment up to and including 50 and 60 ton rotators. I asked their opinion of CoachNet and was told years back they were OK to work with, but after an apparent ownership change, Coachnet has become more and more difficult to work with. If I understand this towing company’s current policy, they require credit card payment from any third party prior to sending the truck out.
I asked what they charge by the mile for a bus and was told they do coaches by the hour … $350 an hour. So there’s a rule of thumb I’ll use going forward.
So … we continue to self-insure. Have never needed towing, keeping fingers crossed.

Dick, that is what AAA required of me also. They needed a $5000 down payment to open the case that would be applied to the charges or reimbursed if not used. I am pretty self sufficient at this point, and am not asking for trouble but i think i keep a close enough eye on things bus related and getting towed would be on the lower half of my concerns list. That is just me, I spend a lot of time with my bus and do all my own work.
