anybody have 1997 or so Jenn Air fridge?
I am not yet willing to go to a recommended shop to replace the fridge.
turns out I think the evaporator fan located in the freezer section has an issue.
Somehow the motor rotation and the shape of the fan blade do not match. If someone with one can tell me which direction the air typically goes in the freezer of the Jenn Air that would help. I was able to reverse motor direction but want to make sure the intended factory airflow direction is installed in mine. Air either is blown in from the fan and flows down thru the coils or is pushed out from the top and air is drawn in from the bottom of coil stack.

I can not answer the question about your specific model, but when I needed that information about my fridge recently, I was able to find it by googling the model number. The manual showed me the direction of airflow in the fridge and the freezer.

If you do have to replace the refrigerator it’s not the end of the world, I replaced mine a while back, our old Whirlpool still worked but the hinge’s were really bad because of the heavy wood panels hanging on them. Whirlpool still made the same exact model but went with the black stainless doors. I did it myself with some help from a couple friends, Pulled out passenger side front windshield, pulled doors off refrigerator pulled it out, not that heavy 2 of us lifted through front then put new right back in, cleaned up cavity, I built a temporary platform same height as cabinet, then with a dolly put new refer op platform then slid it in, screwed it in, reinstalled doors. 22 year newer refer works much better and a lot more efficient.

Regarding air flow, there are two air openings between the fridge and the freezer. Air flow is bottom to top in freezer, i.e., air is pulled from the fridge at the bottom of the freezer and pushed into the fridge at the top of the freezer. So air flows through the evaporator from bottom to top.
The defrost heater went out in mine some time ago. Fairly easy to replace but long arms reaching into the freezer help. Still going strong after 21 years.

I replaced the evap fan motor two years ago thinking it could be the problem as when I got the coach refrigerator could not cool top of refridge section and bottom drawers were freezing. That motor tuned ccw. This year after putting in computer fans internal to move the air with limited success, I looked at the rotation again and found that the fan blade shape required the motor to turn cw. I ordered another motor of a parts website after verifying the refer model number. That motor turned ccw! I found online it is easy to reverse the shaded pole motors. Put that one in and fan blew air out the top! so far refrig is working so much better and stable.
No idea how this refrigerator airflow was incorrect. looking at many repair video’s all the ones had motor turning ccw with the fan blade shaped to go ccw.
I had thought you needed a forklift to get refridge thru window. will keep that in mind for the future.

A fork lift for refrigerator removal and replacement is the safest way not only helping avoid damage to the coach, but if you mess up your back or otherwise get hurt manhandling the refrigerator it won’t be worth it.
