  Mail forwarding

  We have a question about what people do with their mail when they are not full timing. We travel for months at a time during the summer, but have been returning to NC for the winter. We have tried having the USPS hold the mail, they only do that in 30 day increments, and this year we did a temporary change of address, seemed to have not gotten all our mail forwarded. Holding the mail required a family member to go to the post office and pick up mail every 30 days, then they forward to us. We then had to let the original “hold” expire and then do it all over again for another 30 days. (And you wonder how any of the mail-in ballots got processed with this kind of efficiency?)

  Wondering what others do when they are gone from their permanent residence for months at a time. I have though about changing or address to mail forwarding service, like Escapees, and have them forward our mail to us even when we are back in NC.

  Any other ideas?
