Home for our Bus… What do you think?
Hey Friends and Neighbors,
I saw Andy’s name, The Gadget Guru himself, on the welcoming thread to Lars & Carina Strom. Even a picture of Andy was posted, never a good idea! I was reminded of a video Andy did not long ago on “Mountain Falls Motorcoach Resort”, located in my backyard at Lake Toxaway, North Carolina. I asked Andy the kind of discount I can expect, 50% or more me thinks by using his name. You know, we being such super good long time friends and all? Funny I’ve not heard from him, his email must have broke right?
What caught my attention are the sites you can buy to build a home with a motorhome garage. I like the idea of that and I’ve seen them in other places, but the other places have warm winters. I guess my idea has always been travel in the summer and winter someplace warm. Probably Florida because I’ve lived there and have family.
What do you think of what Mountain Falls offers versus others you’ve seen? This area of North Carolina typically has mild winters without a lot of snow and cold… But there’s still winter, or maybe you’d approach it as more of a summer place? Is there a big downside to a home/motorhome park?

That email with the 50% discount must have gone into your spam inbox. Darn, it expired yesterday!
Yes, Lars and I are Facebook friends and I initally briefly met him at the St. Lucie Motorcoach Resort when I was visiting in the Flxible and ran into him recently at Marathon in Florida. I think he was fielding offers from all the folks wanting to buy his beautiful and well maintained bus!
While Lars probably won’t say anything, he’s a boat racing legend. He was the fastest man on water…now he slowly merges onto the highway!
To clarify, there’s no covered garage spaces at Mountain Falls, but they do have some gorgeous cottage homes in the Ridge area. Talking to others, it seems they don’t get much snow or ice in that area, when they do, surely it will make it fairly difficult to get to the grocery store.
Like you Harry, I’d like to hear about other parks and resorts. I’m still checking them out and have a few other on the schedule for this Summer.
And thanks for the kind words on the video…I enjoy doing that stuff!

Harry, you might want to check out our neighborhood :
We are in Crossville TN, one hour West of Knoxville and two hours East of Nashville, just off I-40. It takes me about an hour and 15 minutes to get to Jeff’s (East TN Luxury Coach).
We are up on the Cumberland Plateau at 1,850 feet above sealevel. Our winters and summers are mild with lower humidity than Nashville or Knoxville.
RV homes range from around $350K to over $1M – the nice thing is you can build it most anyway you want. Our neighbors have everyting from simple RV garage homes to RV homes with great workshops or a quilting room for the wife. Again, most anything goes.
All homes are custom. We started building ours last year and have been moved in just over 3 months. We actually rented a house in the development while we were building but if you want, you can live in your coach, free of charge, while your house is under construction. There are also some really nice resale options on the market right now if you don’t want to wait!

Hi Les,Very nice area and you sure built a beautiful place. I currently live in Murphy, NC in the mountain area of southwest NC. My plan is to either find a home/motorhome place or a place with an acre or more where I can build a garage. But I’m out for warm Florida winter weather for sure!
Plus living where you do puts me much too close to Jon! Coming over all the time to barrow a cup transmission fluid or after my recipe on Norgren Valve Stew!
