Boston Gearbox Dipstick and Breather Assembly
I noticed that the dip stick on the Boston gearbox is not is not fitting tightly which is causing fluid to seep out of the the top. According to the parts manual the dipstick is part 051140, and the o-ring 507166. A search on Prevost does not show availability.
i am also looking to update/replace the breather assembly. Part number is 051530, and the adapter/pipe fitting part number is 501309.
Any recommendation for sourcing/ordering these parts?

Ron,
If you insist on new parts, I suggest you contact Boston Gear and inquire as to the parts you need. They still make gearboxes that will replace ours and I imagine they can fit one with a dipstick and breather you desire.
However, when we rebuilt my Boston gearbox a couple of years ago, I discovered that the o-ring is and off the shelf item in any hardware store and the breather is not hard to clean with parts cleaner or brake clean.

Thanks for the replies. I am going to visit the coach tomorrow. I plan to pull the dipstick and the breather assembly, and see what I can find locally at NAPA.

I found that the dipstick was missing an o-ring. Found one at NAPA that fits and now all is alright. I have not been able to find a breather assembly. The one I have does not look like any of the others I have seen on the forum.

By the way, I am not insisting on new replacement parts. I would like to get the breather assembly replaced before my next long travel in mid-February.
