  • Air suspension help

Posted by Mike on August 1, 2016 at 7:33 am

I have a 99 Prevost h345 I was driving it this weekend and noticed that the bus will not air up to travel position when I try to air the bus up manually with the HWH system and the Prevost air system it will only go up so far but not to ride height could this be the HWH controller not letting the bus go up or letting me use the Prevost system

You have likely a failed solenoid valve coil on the center solenoid valve on the manifold in the steer compartment. You can identify it by seeing 5 small red caps.

These are on an XL in the steer compartment located on the bulkhead to the rear of the coach. A snap ring will release the coil. It is likely any other coil can be used as a temporary substitute as long as the coil voltages are the same, but using another coil will disable part of the leveling system. The center coil controls the ride height or driving position.

If that does not fix the problem the diagnosis and solution can get complicated and possibly involve pneumatic valves.

I should add that the HWH controls the coach leveling and height functions through the same solenoid valves so if you temporarily use one of the other solenoid valve coils to restore the coach to the driving height you probably should turn the HWH system off because the auto level system will not work un less all coils and solenoid valves are working.

You should be able to get the coils, solenoid valves or the complete assembly through Norgren valve, Prevost parts or your converter. I would suggest (assuming the problem is the center coil) you only replace the failed part rather than trying to replace and replumb the entire assembly.
