Spare Tire Doesn’t Fit Behind Bumper
Hello,
This 99 XL that we have recently purchased came with a spare tire (no rim) that was inside one of the bay’s. I attempted to put the tire in the spare tire compartment behind the front bumper and when placed in there the bumper won’t close back. It hits the tire and lacks maybe 4-5 inches from closing. The tire seems to be all the way back in the compartment as far as it will go and the tire size is the same as all the others on the bus 315/80R22.5. Has anyone else experienced this?

Not very many, if any of us carry a spare. Those that do put the spare in the bay because most space behind the bumper has been used by the converter for a storage drawer, Cruiseairs, or some other purpose. Jeff even posted photos of one coach with batteries there.

Yours probably wasn’t designed to carry the spare and is for storage. I had a 97 Royale 40′ with a spare tire rack behind the bumper and the Prevost installed hardware made it easy to move a complete 315 in and out with ease. It was a well designed system.

I have a 315 on a steel rim under the bumper – fits great. But I have a really old coach.
Maybe use a tapemeasure to figure out what it’s hitting on.
