  • Looking for recommendations for some paint work

Posted by Thomson on November 9, 2020 at 12:26 pm

    Hey folks,

I just noticed that the clear coat is peeling along the top edge of the bus at the roof line. I was planning to ask Walter D’Andrea to take a look, but he is in the process of moving to Kentucky. If you needed some delicate paint work in central/south Florida, where would you go?

    Thanks for your help!

I realize that Texas may be a little far, but can definitely say you would be happy with Xtreme Paint and Graphics in Nacogdoches,TX.

I’m sure all the suggestions are good and Xtreme is not close to you, but it’s an interesting part of the state and they do the paint for Prevost Fort Worth.

I had a friend clean the roof of our coach a couple of weeks ago. The first thing he said when he got up there was “your clear coat is pealing” … which it was.

What’s the downside of the clear coat pealing? Is there UV protection in the just the clear coat? or is there UV protection in all the paint?

Should I be quick to replace the clear coat? Or can I let it ride.

I’m considering putting one of those fancy ceramic insulating paint/coatings on the coach in the near future.

Once the clear coat is gone your entire paint job will follow unless you take some action to prevent it. Keeping it waxed won’t help. You need to address it as soon as possible. This assumes that it’s clear coat on the paint and not just some clear coat that is on the roof and not part of the graphics.
