Michelin choice…XLEZ vs XZE
Hello,
Looks like we found a coach to replace our 8v92 XL. We need all new tires and am going back and forth on the X Line Energy Z (XLEZ) vs the XZE Michelins. I have XZE on my XL and love them but am being advised to go with XLEZ.
Thoughts?

Here is the coach we are in contract on. 1998 Marathon out of Ohio.
Still deciding on tires…does anyone have any experience with those X Line Energy Z tires?

I have them on my 2016 Liberty. The were put on two years ago when I bought it and are just fine. I have about 43000 miles on them and they look good and ride fine. I would not be afraid of running them.

Thanks for the input….Hmmm, not a super glowing recommendation. I have the XZE on my 40xl and they ride amazing, replaced Bridgstones with them and the difference was massive.

Just replaced all 8 of our XZE’s. They were 2011-2012 date codes and still looked great. Put them (plus 2 more) on a Pete.
XLEZ was the replacement unless buying from OEM mfg such as Prevost. Local tire shop/chain said in their opinion XLEZ was a better/more advanced tire anyway.
Edit – ours were XZA2 Energy that came off not XZE. XLEZ went on new.

Hi, what tire size do you run? Never want to “assume”, but it is the 315/80R22.5?
If so, there is not an XZE offering…. there is a “X Multiway 3D XZE” or the “X Line Energy Z”. What are the differences?
1. The casing design (bones) of both tires are the same, so the performance for cornering and handling are similar. They have the same speed rating and load carrying capacity (9090 lbs in single at 130 psi, 75 mph)
2. The X Multiway 3D XZE is directional, so if you decide on this tire, make sure the tire dealer is aware of it… the arrow on the sidewall is quite small.
3. The X Multiway 3D XZE starts with a higher tread depth (21/32″) than the X Line Energy Z (17/32″). Chances are, you will not wear out either tire.
4. Fuel efficiency! Hands down, the X Line Energy Z is much more fuel efficient… 7% better than the XZA2 Energy, which it replaced.
I would encourage the use of the X Line Energy Z over the X Multiway 3D XZE… the reason Michelin offers the XMW 3D XZE is for fire trucks and construction vehicles that are exposed to tight turns, curb hopping.

I didn’t find a 40. It’s a 45 Marathon, 1998. Currently listed as sold on RVTrader, out of Ohio. I spotted it on Ebay a few weeks ago and jumped on it. My buddy Nick Audino from Superior coach went and looked her over for us. Like you know, it’s difficult to find the right combo of goodies vs a paint scheme or interior that is personally appealing. Would prefer OTR but we liked the design so much, we are forgoing that option. Hopefully it won’t bite us on the backside, particularly while touring through the South in July. I’m hearing good things about the Coleman 2 ton basement HVAC units so I’m hoping, if she falls short on cooling, that my be a viable option. One of the previous owners is a race car driver and I spoke with him at length about his many hours parked on hot tarmac in the summer and he never had an issue to note.
Anyhow, we put to fat deposit down so…off to Ohio in a week or two for a cross country adventure. Hopefully all the RV parks aren’t full. I see out here in Cali, the local KOA is bulging over.
