Bugs out?
we’re newbies to the camping life. What’s the best way to keep mosquitoes, flies, etc out of the coach while at camp grounds? We’ll be near water for a while and don’t want to be bugs’ hosts. Thanks for the advice!

Keeping bugs out is spotty at best, and completely will be essentially impossible, in my experience. We use a bug zapper from Home Depot or Lowe’s up front. It is always on unless the coach is in storage. It works. We close the bedroom door at night to keep the light from it out. It is not perfect, especially for the tiny gnats, but mosquitos and the like it does zap. Music to my ears.

Unless we are constantly coming in or out bugs are not an issue. But we NEVER open our windows. Our coach was equipped with 4 AC units for a reason and so in lieu of opening windows we just run our Cruise Airs.
Back in the day we did open windows and it seemed the bugs were all capable of getting through the screens.
Lesson learned.

they make a special fine screen for them in Fla. Also they normaly don’t travel more than 100yds from a body of water. FWIW Ask your local Lowes for it. Also keep your outside sprayed! They come in everywhere.

Citronella oil is a bug deterrent that is easily applied to screens. Put on a pair of rubber gloves, so the oil stays off your skin. Pour a little bit of citronella on a paper towel and rub it all over the screen. It should keep no-see-ums from coming through.

Are we miss construing your post? Are you asking about the screens or not having a screen on the front door?

That was what I was refering to FWIW. My 98 was a Factory conversion shell that I bought as a salvage shell > It has 1/4 screens on three windows and also entrance door (window 1/2 )and next to driver window. Nice little breeze when the weather is correct. My shell was a 98XLE. Converter not important anymore because I have changed everything. I don’t even know if new conversions have windows that open. Came that way from Prevost supplied to converter–1/4 window with screen still available. Bob
