  • A plug for using an Uber

Posted by Ronald on July 20, 2019 at 12:31 am

So we have been parked at the McCormick Place Convention Center, Parking Lot B, since yesterday afternoon and have yet to unlock our trailer to take out the car.

Yes, we could be driving our own car but given that we are, more or less, in Downtown Chicago, already, why bother. Especially, considering the, by all accounts, very expensive parking lot fees.

So, we have been calling-up an Uber 3 times today. The cars arrived in less than 5 minutes. They were clean cars and relatively new. Unlike, most taxi cabs you will find around the USA, which are short of belonging on a trash heap.

Each Uber ride, with tip, was less than $20.00 and well worth it. How convenient! You book online, they give you a selection of different cars to choose from, tell you the cost and when you confirm, they tell you who is coming and what kind of car it will be (along with its license plate so you can make sure it is who you expect). The driver also calls you to confirm he is on the way and to confirm your pickup point.

We are sold on using Uber.

I am sure there will be people saying the same things about Lyft. Another choice.

    Cheers,

    Ronald

I’ve never had the chance to use it, but have friends that rely on it regularly and they are fans.

I use Uber extensively while traveling on business. It is a good option to have. Only recently have I been in Uber vehicles that really needed to have a good interior cleaning.
