Has anyone out there looked into some sort of convertion for a Detroit series 60 to run Deisel Exaust Fluid? Or has any one tried to run the stuff? Price per gallon is substantially lower, but if it will run does you MPH go to the dogs?

I don’t think that you understand what diesel exhaust fluis is for,it is used in the 2010(I think) EPA diesel engines to reduce the emissions,I think that it is the NOX that is the problem.It is added to the exhaust after the combustion takes place and reduces the emissions,it is apparently urea and I think that almost all diesels are using it today.

DEF does not replace Diesel fuel. It is used in newer engines and injected into the exhaust system to reduce emissions. It adds more hardware and more cost. You don’t want to use it or need it unless you buy a new or almost new bus.

DEF is now available at most pumps and there are dire warnings about mixing it with fuel. It is urea and has been said it is injected into the exhaust at about a one or two percent rate per gallon of fuel.

My big tractors for the ranch ,some of them you have to use DEF ,its the shits ,who ever thought that up should be slapped thanks !!!!

with all that livestock—you can’t collect your own def?? How about a $15,000 dollar turbo seal for a combine–$50 for oil seal rest for exhaust because oil got into it… Sorry!!

Thanks for the info. Know I know when I asked a trucker on my first fill up after purchase – he asked me what year the bus was and promptly said “if you fill with it you probably won’t get out of the plaza!

My mac-daddy zero turn, 200″ cut, 300 hp mower uses DEF.
