New coach on the road
Well it’s been a long week but back on the road with the new coach 1500 miles in two days got coach loaded up at liberty and I am on the road coach is great Paul and Robin at liberty where great Trina flew down and she drove truck back to ranch , she left at 9:00 am Monday morning got home at 7:00 pm tuesday 2400 hundred miles in 28 hours now that’s driving . The OTR air is sweet don’t think I would ever go back with all the miles I put on !!!! I want to thank Tom and Jon for all the help . PS I think she was speeding in my truck!!!!!!!!!!!LOL ..I can not say the air system is as tight as my old coach but it will be . Dave the owner of my old coach brought it to the clinic in NC to visit it looks great a lot cleaner it was great to see Dave and Karen

Congratulations Peter.
It will take some time for you to understand some of the differences between the XL and the XLII, but you will appreciate and enjoy them.
The air system, that’s another story with the abundance of push in fittings.

We are happy you are rolling northbound to your next clinic, would hate to see you get slack on work!! For the next 30 weeks or so that Liberty is going to get a workout, which is what these diesels like. Once again as first time Prevost owners, Karen and I could not have bought a better coach for our needs, from better folks, Peter and Trina. We have become good friends and can actually have a conversation now where it is not totally Prevost talk. We did take the coach to Greensboro NC to visit with Peter and watch some of his clinic, and strongly recommend anyone that gets a chance to visit his workplace….unbelievable to us what he can do with horses and his students.

Al , it is a better ride smoother not as much sway and the Trans retarder is much better than the jake I am not sure the 365’s make much difference on the front the roads across the country are the shits lots of pot holes and cracks in the roads , it still thumps when you go over bridge joints not much sway when big trucks pass you , I will get back to you after more time on the road

Same changes I experience, with better tracking than my previous two coaches. The surprise to me was how quiet the coach was compared to the previous two.

You have already found how driving and noise level is improved. I am pretty sure you are going to really get to like some of the features Liberty has put in the coach and how well they have done things. The over the road air is something you will never do without now that you have it.
What you are not going to like is the major challenge you (and I and all other XLII owners) face to tighten up the air systems. Not only are there a lot of systems that use air with all their associated fittings and potential leak points, but the inaccessibility of some of the fittings that are going to make chasing air leaks a major problem. Next year when I do air bags and brake chambers that is going to be my major project and I am not looking forward to it.

Peter, Sounds like you all are enjoying that new ride. Hope it stays that way and know that with down time you will be a fixing things that don’t need fixed. LOL! Happty Trails and stay safe.

Thanks Glen and everybody , Jon I hope to do the air system next winter I too am not looking forward to that but it will be nice not to have air leaks in aux system the rest is tight!!!

As near as I can tell I am going to have to make new manifolds at some point if I am to go to compression fittings. The push in fittings are installed on small air manifolds and there is insufficient room to replace the manifold fittings with compression fittings. The fittings on the air bags and a lot of other components will be easily replaced but in the steer compartment I see a lot of extra work. I also intend to add shut off valves to a lot of the accessory side air lines in the steer compartment to make future air leak chasing easier.
We will need to swap notes.
